  • Maurten GEL 480

For runners and endurance athletes who rely on Maurten, the new Gel 480 is a simple but significant innovation. Delivering 40g of carbohydrate per gel – twice the energy of the original Gel 100 – it's designed for longer efforts where maintaining energy intake is key.

Using Maurten's unique hydrogel technology, the Gel 480 encapsulates carbohydrates to help them pass through the stomach comfortably before being absorbed in the intestine. The result is the clean, easy-to-take fuelling experience that has made Maurten the choice of many of the world's best marathon runners, trail athletes and ultra runners.

With more carbohydrate in each serving, the Gel 480 helps reduce the number of gels you need to carry and consume during long races and training runs, making it an ideal option for marathons, ultras and big mountain days where every gram counts.

How to Use Maurten Gel 480

The Gel 480 is designed for athletes aiming to consume 60–120g of carbohydrate per hour during longer training sessions and races. With 40g of carbohydrate per gel, it's easy to build your fuelling plan around your target intake.

    For example:

    • 60g per hour: Take 1½ Gel 480s per hour, or combine one Gel 480 with other Maurten products.
    • 80g per hour: Take 2 Gel 480s over the course of an hour.
    • 120g per hour: Take 3 Gel 480s per hour if you've trained your gut to tolerate higher carbohydrate intake.

The Gel 480 works particularly well alongside Maurten Drink Mix 160 or 320, allowing you to spread your carbohydrate intake between drink and gels while staying hydrated. As with any nutrition strategy, we recommend practising your fuelling during training so you know exactly what works best before race day.

Whether you're chasing a marathon PB or taking on an ultra, the Maurten Gel 480 makes hitting your carbohydrate targets simpler than ever.
